East Bentleigh Renovation and Extension
Located in the leafy, family-friendly suburb of East Bentleigh, this renovation and extension project transformed a traditional home into a modern, light-filled family residence—while respecting the original character and neighbourhood context.
Project Overview
The brief called for enhanced living zones, improved connection between indoors and outdoors, and an extension that would integrate seamlessly with the existing structure. The design aimed to deliver:

a spacious open-plan living/dining/kitchen zone

and balanced indoor-outdoor flow suited to Melbourne’s lifestyle.
During Construction
Beginning with a detailed consultation and site analysis, our team carefully considered how the new extension would align with the existing rooflines, brickwork and proportions, ensuring cohesion rather than contrast. By retaining key features of the original home and referencing them in the new build, we achieved architectural continuity and a sense of refinement.
Throughout construction, high-quality materials were selected and craftsmanship emphasised—creating bespoke joinery, streamlined finishes and thoughtful transitions between old and new. Attention to daylight, ventilation and sightlines was central: large glazed doors open to the rear garden, while the extension’s roof form and eaves tie into the established street appearance.
Completed Project
The completed home reflects an elegant contemporary update that remains grounded in context. The open living zone now flows naturally to the outdoor area, creating both relaxed everyday living and impressive entertaining capability. The enhanced master wing and bathrooms offer retreat-style comfort. Meanwhile, the extension’s external façade retains a sympathetic scale, matching the warm brick tones of the original house and subtly elevating the street presence without overpowering it.
